We take stuff made by regular citizens, radio geeks, journalists or artists and put it on the radio. We depend on energetic and talented volunteers to help us make this happen. We’re looking for beginners, serious students and experienced professionals who can commit to regular weekly hours to help out. In return, we provide training in audio production, story-telling for radio, and help you with your own projects.
When you arrive at WBEZ studios 848 E. Grand at Navy Pier, ring the bell and we’ll buzz you in. We’ll go over details about how Vocalo works and screen aspiring volunteers to determine good matches.
Volunteer opportunities at Vocalo.org include…
OPS: outreach and community events including festivals, remote broadcasts, field recording and audio production.
BROADCAST: assisting hosts with on-air shifts, neighborhood story gathering, segment production and some audio editing.
FACTORY: audio editing and production including some neighborhood story gathering and collaborative projects.
