The Rundown

Today we're talking to Jiba Anderson, the owner of an intellectual properties company, Griot Enterprises , who publishes his own line of comic books. We'll be discussing all the things he does to create his books, aka graphic novels, and see what it's like to really walk in his shoes. His books, The Horsemen and Hip Hop Chronicles are already gaining cult status and may be on their way to a screen near you. Jiba also has a podcast on itunes that you can hear.

What were some of your favorite comics growing up or even now and do you see a racial or gender divide in the mix? Our very own Chris has some thoughts about it. Let us know what YOU think at 888-635-1112.

Please listen in and add to the conversation.Sitting in with me today is Oktober Davila aka DJ Sista Stroke who will be helping select tunes for you today. Also, we get on the phone with the non-profit Allstars.org, who have been helping youth achieve self esteem for many years in other cities, but are new to the Chicago landscape. We talk to the Chicago team, Antoine and David, to find out what they're doing here in the city.

To really delve into the world of comic books, we go into the Wizard World convention with host Jesse's interviews at the most recent convention here in Chicago.

I'll be featuring plenty of Vocalo member works including a theme of drugs and what happens sometimes when you get caught up in the melee. We hear from user 911.cheney.knew and an incarcerated listener (Jacobyiscool) who shared his thoughts on his world as well as what he thinks of Vocalo.org. Also, host Steve gives us some info on drugs fround in Burn Harbor.

If you want to chime in on that, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Email me: darlene@vocalo.org...I'll be reading your emails live on the air as they come across the wire.

Thanks for tuning in, contributing and as always, helping to make Vocalo.org the best radio on land and web!

xoxo
