- 2010 Summer internships deadline for application: March 19. Start date June 14

-2010 Fall internship dates will be posted soon!

Production Intern The primary focus of the Vocalo Production intern is to edit and prepare audio files for broadcast and the Vocalo.org website. Production interns will learn how to record, write copy, edit and mix. They will produce user-submitted content from the hotline, from the website, and from air-checks, help select listener-generated content for on-air broadcast, and collect and produce field recordings from local communities. Interns will also help find new sources of material and may assist in finding content elsewhere by contacting content creators to upload to Vocalo.org. As their final project, Vocalo interns will create CDs of their collected material that will be formally evaluated by experienced producers.

Outreach /Events Intern

The primary responsibility of the Outreach / Events Intern is to reach out to people who live in our target communities in Chicago and Northwest Indiana through the many events that Vocalo.org will be going to and hosting.  Intern will learn how to interview, collect field recordings, teach people how to tell their own stories, and promote Vocalo.org through the various events ranging from remote broadcasts to getting responses to provocative tape at a roundtables.

Broadcast Intern

Broadcast Interns directly support on-air operations through recorded field interviews, audio editing, phoning in as a location correspondent, guest booking, board operations and co-hosting broadcast segments.  They will be trained to use Vegas audio editing software, Enco’s DAD broadcast software, broadcasting consoles, codec units and audio gear used in remote broadcasts and other recording equipment for use in the field.  Broadcast Interns will work with several different on-air hosts in these capacities based on their schedule and availability and may also work on special projects with the Production Coordinator and Assistant Production Coordinator.

Broadcast Interns will learn how to create content-rich broadcast segments and on-air hosting in the Vocalo style, culminating in a live intern-hosted broadcast segment at the end of the internship.  Broadcast Interns will also have the opportunity to sharpen interviewing skills, announcing, promotional spot production and copy editing for live reads.

Hi... I'm a host here at vocalo. Our broadcast tower is in Indiana (Chesterton), but our studios are at Navy Pier in Chicago. Many radio stations have studios miles from their tower, but FCC says you must announce where the tower is, not where you are.....
They make it clear on their broadcast they are in Chesterton Indiana. Maybee somebody from vocalo could clear this up.
they are located in downtown chicago - navy pier i believe.
Is this internship located in Chesterton? What is your address? I can't find it on your website. Are you evan located in the state of Indiana?
