Wayne County Training School was located in Northville Michigan. Opened in 1926, it set the stage for ground breaking studies of so called "Feeble Minded" children.

Plauged with scandal it closed in 1974. I discovered its abandoned grounds in 1980. 27 years later it is still remembered by dozens of others that appreciated its peaceful and beautiful grounds.

The first video is all super8mm film taken in the early 1980's. the last 2 are my final trip to the grounds in 1991.#1   Vintage 1980's Film A collaberation of the oldest film footage we have. Shot on super 8mm by Jeff Archer and Myself in the early to mid 1980's. 60Mb#2   Final Visit Part 1Part 1 of my last visit to the tunnels. 90Mb#3   Final Visit Part 2Part 2 of my last visit to the tunnels. 72Mb

This videos are great. There are many places I have wanted to explore, but have been to afraid of getting caught. The only place I have visited was Manteno State Hospital, and this was after the larger buildings had all been knocked down. It was still great. There is a large vacant factory in Kankakee that I worked near that I wish I had visited. Its the old Quaker-General Foods mill. It looks like there are plenty of ways to get in and it has only been abandoned for about ten years, so its pretty safe.
