DYN
The Digital Youth Network(DYN) is a youth media and technology initiative run out of the Center for Urban School Improvement at the University of Chicago.
We currently serve over 300 students in several south side middle schools and high schools. We have been charged with designing a unique program, that can serve as a scalable model for others, to engage youth around issues of media literacy.
Our program, leveraging a hybrid model combining voluntary afterschool programming, required in school media arts courses, ambitious use of virtual spaces and more, supports youth in often undeserved communities to grow as responsible and proficient producers and discerning consumers of media. Programming covers digital video production, music production, design and animation, digital journalism, game design, robotics and more.
