It's beautiful outside today -- the first day that has really felt like spring.  It was beautiful in the Loop.  I took Lake Shore Drive to South Shore Drive all the way back home to enjoy maximum drive time near Lake Michigan -- our often overlooked jewel of the Midwest.

Too bad I have to run over to the Lake Co. Government Center in Crown Point to file my homestead and mortgage exemptions this afternoon since this is the only free time I have during the week.  Maybe one of these days, the government will make it easier to file online or by some other method that doesn't require actual travel to the government center.

I hope everyone else stays home to enjoy the nice weather and maybe there won't be a line.  At least it isn't closer to the deadline in June -- it will be crazy when people realize they need to get their paperwork on file or else pay extra property taxes.

One good thing, maybe I'll go over to the elections division and cast my vote in the Indiana primary early.

If I do vote early, I'll break out the digital recorder and speak about my impressions of voting before primary day.
