ROCK OUT FOR A CAUSE!!! On April 12th Cooperative Image Group (Co-op Image) will host itsfirst benefit of the year, Back to Basics, at the Quennect 4 galleryon 2716 W. North Ave. Doors open at 9 and the show will begin at 10.Tickets cost $10 at the door. Proceeds go directly to Co-op Image insupport of its youth arts initiatives.

Cassadine the Caszo, self proclaimed "artist in life" will open theevening with eloquent and hard-dropping hip-hop, followed by Walter JLive Harder, whose Chicago inspired rhymes come from listening to thestorytelling wind of the second city. Dirty Digital, theemcee/production team of Qwazaar (Typical Cats) and Silence(Outerlimitz) will tap your feet for you as they combine hip-hop withelectronic, dance, and rock to create a symphonic, heavy andrelentlessly inventive sound. After which, Taggart Transcontinental'slive jazz band will compliment the lead MC Jordan Taggart's consciouslyricism with improvised horns and funky baselines. At last, thefeatured act, Slacky J and the Superstatus crew will turn Back toBasics into a full-on dance party, spinning reggae, dub, anddancehall. Slacky J started the popular Reggae Vibes show on 88.7fmWLUW ten years ago and is still going strong, playing regularly inclubs across Chicago and spreading the message of reggae music.Incorporated in 2003, Cooperative Image Group is an interdisciplinaryarts education and social entrepreneurship organization thatfacilitates programs with youth ages 6-21.
