Is it just me or are people uglier on HD? More makeup and a little more soft lighting.

HD tv is super harsh and it is really difficult to hide imperfections with high definition cameras and televisions. It doesn't mean that people have to become thinner it just means that more people should be shooting with wide angle lenses so things aren't so distorted. The art of make up should also revolutionize to incorporate the hd look. So pressed powder may not work anymore but airbrushing still looks quite decent on hd. i used to produce soap operas in hd in Indonesia and there were a few norms to television that we had to evolve in order to cooperate with the extreme detail with hd. lighting is also affected when shooting with hd so that is another aspect that has had to evolve. Its just another format change and will not cause the entire entertainment industry to go through plastic surgery and become anorexic (they will go through that irrespective of what format you are shooting them with).
Actually i did read an article about HDTV and its effect. Ya know the whole camera adds 10 lbs theory. Well according to this article they said with the HDTVs its more like 30 now. Since these new fancy schmancy flat screens seem to kinda stretch the images wider people in the biz are feeling the pressure to lose even more weight. Cargo cosmetics even has a line of makeup out designed for the latest blue ray. Maybe lil teresa should look into it lol.
Maybe there might have been a way to post a picture with just a segment of the reporter's face, sort of like those stock shots of peoples' bottom halves that they show during TV news stories about obesity. Maybe I'm only thinking that because Teresa Gutierrez's name and mug is out there like she's a poster child....
