I really enjoyed a piece we played today "closet meat eater"

A young lady was speaking on the pressures of sticking to a vegetarian diet amongst meat eaters She's been keeping up a good front - but she had to come out on Vocalo.org and let the truth be known. She secrectly sneaks and eats meat

Hearing that story gave me the strength to come out as wellI too am a closet meat eater....

I don't always stick to my diet as strictly as I may put on to others. But hey, we're all human. Can you relate?

Let's hear your story - others need encouragment

Being a vegetarian has definitely been a struggle for me as well. As much as it makes me sad to know that I am eating other beings which were once alive, I also know that I have become quite ill when not eating meat because my body was not receiving enough nutrients. Also, when traveling to regions around the world where meat is a staple part of the local's diets it becomes very difficult (and rude at times) to refuse their food. A good lesson that I have learned from certain regions that eat meat is that one should respect the food that they are eating. In fact, Ayurveda teaches us that any food prepared and consumed with respect for the sources that provided the food will nourish the body more than food that is prepared and consumed mindlessly. This has helped me with my guilt complexes when consuming meat. Jains don't eat root vegetables because they believe that they too have life. I think everything has some form of life in it (unless we are eating stones). Therefore, a great philosophy is to simply respect what we are eating and acknowledge the fact that its life purpose is going towards your nourishment. Cheers...
