Illinois State Rep Ken Dunkin (5th District) is joining us today on-air via telephone to talk about his bid for re-election and politics in general. Today he can be seen on the cover of The Chicago Defender endorsing Barack Obama along with a concensus of all the black legislators. According to the story: State Rep. Ken Dunkin (D-5) said, "Obama represents the new Americans. Our children and grandchildren are inspired by him. There's a paradigm shift in this country with new Americans and Barack recognizes that."

Political analyst Fareed Zakaria seems to echo this very thing in his Newsweek article from the week. Check it out here.

But what do you think? Is there a "new American" who appears to be intimately more related to the experiences of someone like Barack Obama versus the other candidates?

Do tell!
