In its roots it definitely had race tensions for a long time. I was born and raised in Bridgeport so that's why you'll see a lot of my work revolves around it. The last racist thing that I can remember was when a De La Salle Catholic School student beat up an African-American kid pretty badly back in 1997.

But things have dramatically changed since then! That generation is no longer in the majority in Bridgeport; most have moved out or passed away. You can speak to almost anyone in this neighborhood which has had a huge influx of Asian and Latino populations, race tensions do not exist in Bridgeport as they once did or at least what it's "known for"
