We're told organic food costs more because more is lost to insects, plant disease and spoilage. And yet there are alternative ways, like hydroponic gardening for one, to minimize these conditions.
Sounds a lot like the lame excuses the oil companies make for their high gas prices.
Jus' goes to show you, the one who stands to profit will always have a (bs) way to explain their higher prices.

well, the111 brings up a good point which is that shopping organic can be a pricey affair. Yet, not all the time. Aldi has come out with a natural brand that uses a good portion of organic materials. Cooking with organic dry goods can also be as cheap as buying unorganic prepared foods. The fact of the matter is that buying organic doesn't only mean that you will live to ninety. It means that you are supporting products that don't harm the people producing them. Thousands of farmers die around the world due to pesticide poisoning. Also, eating toxins doesn't only mean that you might die young. There are plenty of diseases and illnesses that could affect you or your loved ones which are caused by toxic levels in our foods. Several of the chemicals used to enhance flavors within non organic foods also promote cancer growth. In our house we often talk about whether it would be more heavy on our pockets to pay for hospital bills or to pay a little extra every week for as much organic as we can get. I come from a family of farmers who were organic in India long before whole foods or trader joes. so this discussion has been ongoing for generations. Thanks for the thoughts...
