When did you most feel like a tourist? What happened to make you feel that way?
I'll start. I went to Moscow once and I knew nothing about the city and one day went out on my own. I toured the subways and being black, I got stared at A LOT. I really felt like a tourist that day.
Pretty much anytime I take the subway, which is everyday, I feel like a tourist. I guess that's appropriate because I am essentially a tourist in NYC. I try not to spread out my subway map as wide as I once did, but I sitll have to look at it. I see those knowing New York glances as I sputter around figuring out transfers. I've stopped asking for directions, though, which makes me feel less-touristy.
