During West Side Open Studio, Chicago Public Radio's West Side Bureau at 2531 W. Division St. opens its doors to the public from 2-5pm. Drop in and say hi to radio folks who highlight life on the West Side. Share stories, be heard on the radio. It's free, and open to everyone in the community.
Saman Sheikh is the Pakistani "rebel with a cause" and our new addition to the weekend show with Jesse which airs every Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm. A journalist who has dabbled in print, broadcast and now radio, considers herself a "citizen of the world who will make sure she leaves this place a lot better." Having lived in Nigeria, Pakistan and now the US for about every decade of her life, she belongs to many places and revels in the differences of cultures and people. She claims that "we really are all one and the same at the end of the day." She hopes to bring a different perspective and speak about a multitude of issues which have yet remained invisible to us as Americans. Of course, you will hear the rant and just so you know, she has a sense of humour which borders on sarcasm so brace yourself for a dose of that! She takes things that are meant to be serious a bit too seriously but then "sometimes things are just too funny to be taken seriously"! Freelance journalist seeking a full-time home. Addicted to media and politics. Information sponge and, consequently, rueful dilettante. Some would say raconteur. I'd prefer bon vivant, but then I'd be Eric Zorn.
