Owner of Jokes and Notes Comedy Club in Bronzeville, Mary Lindsey, joins Brian Babylon and Molly in-studio to talk about her upcoming comedy showcase on Saturday, November 13th. Hosted by Esau McGraw and featuring comedian Deon Cole, Mary takes the comedy out of the club and brings it to the Museum of Science and Industry for a national stand-up competition.
Mary's coming up on celebrating 6 years of business at Jokes and Notes, but has long and deep roots in the Chicago comedy scene. She's helped launch the careers of many comedians, including the great Bernie Mac, and has had the likes of Dave Chappelle and Mo'nique come through her club. The club is located at 4641 S. King Drive and is open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Check out Mary Lindsey on Morning AMp discussing the upcoming show at the Museum of Science and Industry and what it takes to not only be a comic, but a comedy club owner in Chicago.
